Just because the island has the same meaning as beaches, in Kythnos you will find marvelous, shadowy beaches which shape picturesque little bays with crystal-clear waters.
Some of them are the following: Loutra Beach, the beautiful beach of the homonymous area-if you go swimming lengthwise towards its end you will enjoy the salutary virtues of the hot healing spring which flows into that point. The Beach of Merichas with the crystal-clear sea waters and the thin sand, Martinakia Beach with the thin sand-it is the first beach that we meet on the way from Merichas towards Loutra- the picturesque Liotrivi Beach on our way towards Kalo Livadi and Agios Dimitrios, a large and beautiful beach located in the southern part of the island which spreads in front of the homonymous area and from where you can reach the small beach “Petroussa”. The beaches “Agia Irini” and “Schinari” near Loutra, “Megali Ammos Kanalas” which is a large, sandy beach, one of the most frequented in Kythnos, in the right bay below the church of Panagia Kanala, as far as the left bay is concerned you can go swimming either in Antonides Beach or in Agios Stefanos Beach, on the east side of the island, which is sandy, pebbly and shadowy because of the tamarisks which can be found all along it, Kolona-an impressive beach which surprises the visitor since it has a stripe of sand which divides the sea in the middle, thus creating two sandy areas in the same beach, Kavourocheri Beach, Mavrianos Beach on the east side of the island, Simoussi Beach on the southeast side etc..
