Hotels - Chania - Strofilia Villas
Strofilia villas & suites is a recently renovated 18th century Cretan stone mansion that has been in the same family since being built. The renovations were carried out by skilled local stonemasons and carpenters using traditional techniques and materials. After the renovation, modern amenities were added.
The village of Sellia is located next to a spectacular forest in the mountains of Western Crete. The forest, the village, and the surrounding area are a delight to explore on foot or by bicycle, while other attractions are only a short car trip away.
Strofilia is operational all year round. Visitors in the months of September and October are welcome to participate in the grape harvest and the production of wine and tsikoudia (raki), while those visiting in November and December can join in the olive harvest and making of olive oil.
Nearby attractions include Georgioupolis town & beach (6km), the town of Vamos (6km), the natural rock pools at Ombros Yialos (7km), Almyrida beach (9km), Kalyves beach (12km) and the cities of Rethymno (25km) and Chania (30km).
The Sapounakis family has lived in Sellia for centuries and are active in winemaking, traditional farming, and the production of cheese and olive oil. They are well known for their warmth and hospitality. The mansion includes the family's traditional wine press and their collection of vintage farm tools.
