Sivota is a coastal settlement in the southern part of Thesprotia's prefecture. It is one of the main resorts of Epirus and for this reason, every summer brings together a large number of Greek and foreign tourists. The village is built in a small bay where there are plenty of islands. Thus, a beautiful landscape is created, combining the green of nature and the turquoise of the sea. The main islands are Saint Nicholas and Mavro Oros. The excellent beaches of Sivota, which stand out for their rare and unique natural beauty, are within walking distance from the village. Historically, Sivota is known for the naval battle among the Corinthians and the Thesprotians against the Corfiots in 433 BC during the Peloponnesian War. During the Ottoman rule, the name of the village was Mourtos that persisted until the late '50s. The importance of the past, succeed to remain up to date.
