The beach of Pylos is right below the area where the taverns and coffee shops are. Many residents of the hotels near this spot, but also many inhabitants of Pylos prefer to take a quick swim here! Generally, it is a quit busy spot, especially during the summer months.
Voidokilia Beach is possibly the most renowned beach in Messenia and one of the most exquisite beaches in whole Greece! The beach took its name from the word “Voufras”, which means “where the oxen live”. Voidokilia is also referred as Vouvota (Oxen’s Belly) in an ancient inscription. Another obvious reason for the name of the beach is the great curvature of the bay which resembles the belly of an ox.
Divari or Chrisi Akti is one of the most well-known beaches of Pylia. It is an extremely long beach and it is included in the designated special protection areas of Natura 2000. Divari lies opposite the town of Pylos. Near the area where the beach spreads, the visitor will find the beautiful lagoon of Gialova where an interesting variety of flora and fauna exists. The beach is located after the built-up area of Gialova. You should keep driving on the county road and just c. 400-500 metres down this road you will see a sign on you left leading you to the beach.
Glossa is a small beach beneath Voidokilia . As you can see in the video below, it has a small, narrow opening between the rocky volumes that hardly allow the water to enter. However, it gradually widens, leaving more space for the sandy beach to expand and welcome its bathers. The water is always nice and calm.
